What are we up to this term? (Term 2)

Hi everyone,

Here's a little bit of an overview of what we are up to in room 11 this term:

Our Christian Theme is what underpins all of our other work at Cornerstone Christian School. This term we are looking at 'God our Creator'. We are trusting that children will learn to see God as a incredibly creative God who has made us in his image. God has made us to be creative too and has blesssed us with gifts and talents for use in His service.

Literacy - most of our literacy this term will be integrated with the theme of God our Creator. In the early part of the term we will be reading and writing reports about people who played key roles in the world of inventors and inventions. Later in the term we will be reading and writing procedural texts that explore what make it go and how it works.

Maths - In the early part of the term we will be back to good ole addition and subtraction and multiplication and division - both with whole numbers, and with decimals and fraction. Later in the term we will launch into meaasurement - through exploring time, length, area, mass, capacity and volume. Phew!

Our theme unit of God as creator will be further developed through all sorts of technological projects and learning experiences this term. This will culminate in an individual technology or science project, that all students will be required to submit. These will be displayed at the Cornerstone Technology and Science fair early in term 3. Should be AWESOME!!!

Don't forget we have the Cornerstone Cross Country race coming up in week 5 - the 21st May. We (including the fat teacher) will be puffing hard to try and get fit for this event!

I had to mention in class today too that we had a dance evening coming up later in the term where all classes will be required to put on a dance item for the rest of the school AAAAgggHHHH!!!
